A resident of Florida since 1975, Shirley Vale is originally from Ohio where she was educated at Ohio University with a major in Philosophy.

Four years of study with Seleta Philibin, a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art, marked the beginning of Shirley's passion for painting which has grown over the past thirty years.

Working in oil and acrylic, she has developed her own recognizable style of impressionistic palette knife painting with a contemporary look.  She paints thick, rich, multi-layered surfaces of brilliant and subtle color, creating an almost sculptural effect.

Subjects may range from a panorama of nature, through private sanctuaries and gardens with children, to an intimate view of some aspect of life.

Her work is represented in numerous private collections throughout the United States and abroad.

Shirley has been associated with the Tower Gllery for over twenty years.
