The Artist, Connie Sebring
Connie Sebring’s inspiration, for her artwork, stems from her early years growing up in New Mexico. There she developed an intense love of nature and the complex beauty of the New Mexican landscape. The wonderful vistas of lights and darks, the desert and the mountains all play a part in her work today. In 1988 Connie and her family moved to Florida, where her influence has been intensified by a completely different set of senses. The many shades of green and blue, the Gulf Coast beaches and sunsets have quickly become a huge part of her work.
The fused glass process is an intricate method by which a glass design, is cut and layered to put into a kiln to fire at temperatures of anywhere from 1100 to 1500 degrees. Sometimes there can be several firings on any one piece. Through this process on layering and firing the glass, Connie uses the colors and textures from her life experiences.
